Quickstart Guide

This Quickstart Guide assumes its' reader has a basic level of competence with the Liferay portal. As such it will not cover Liferay management topics such as how to create pages or add or remove portlet applications to a page.

Installation

The MySearch portlet comes in the form of a Web Application Archive. It may be installed by copying to the <liferay-install-path>/deploy folder or via Control Panel > Plugins Installation > Install More Portlets > Upload File.

Configuration

Add the MySearch portlet to a page. Access the portlet's configuration preferneces by choosing the Preferences menu item from the portlet options context menu. From the "Group Coverage (Guest)" tab, select the groups you wish the guest users to be able to search. Repeat this process for authenticated users using the "Group Coverage (Users)" tab. Next, choose the content types which should be searched from the "Application Coverage" tab. From the "Display Configuration" tab, select whether a column containing the name of a result's containing community should be included in the search results. And finally, from the "Tab Configuration" tab, choose which "content type" tabs you wish to display to users. Configuration of your MySearch portlet is now complete!

Usage

Simply type your keywords into the text field and press enter. Your results (if any are found) should be displayed below the text field, grouped by content types in their respective tabs, and also all intermixed under the "ALL" tab.
